Memento mori is a Latin phrase meaning “Remember you will die”, and has come to describe visual puns, and double meanings that depict a vision of human mortality.

Oh, it’s just fun to stick this scary label on your wine or apple cider, that’s all. Kids really love the hidden skull!

Print the label, cut it out, and paste in on your dinner wine bottle!

Witches Hats & Spider Cookies

    The video is pretty clear on this one, but it is so versatile we have to mention the variations.

  • Use Oreo Cookies, or Fudge Stripes, or other dark flat cookies
  • Split the Oreo Cookies in two and you have frosting already in there to stick the Kiss to
  • Stick bits of licorice into the frosting and you have “spider legs”

Zombie Hands

    You fill disposable plastic gloves with popcorn, either caramel or plain, doesn’t matter.

  • Takes two people, one to hold gloves, one to scoop popcorn in
  • Use black ribbon to tie the “wrist” end when the glove is full
  • A mix of caramel, red candy corn and plain looks cool!

Spider Web Frosting

Making a video on this one, but we have to make mention of it now, besides, it’s easy to do.

  • Cover a cookie with plain orange, white, or red frosting
  • Draw a black spiral from the center out with a small fine frosting tip
  • Use a toothpick to drag the black frosting downward from the top of the cookie
  • Now go across right to left
  • Then at 45 degree angles up and down

Cupcake Spiders and Monsters

Making a video on this one too, also easy to do.

  • Make or purchase frosted cupcakes
  • You need Licorice, Small Candies like M & M, Chocolate Sprinkles
  • Stick the Licorice into the frosting near the edges on each side of a cupcake (4 sticks to a side)
  • The small candies are the eyes, put them on top near the edge in front
  • Chocolate sprinkles on chocolate frosting looks like a “furry spider”

Pumpkin Cookies

Pumpkin Pie Filled Oatmeal Cookie!

Making a video on this one too, not so easy to do. First a description, then the full recipe follows…

  • Make Disappearing Oatmeal Cookie Dough then set aside
  • Make filling for two pumpkin pies using the classic big can of pumpkin and two little cans of evaporated milk
  • Use two graham cracker crusts, 8 inch size, and you always have a bunch of pumpkin filling left over
  • Pour the leftover pumpkin pie filling into the Disappearing Oatmeal Cookie Dough
  • Add Oatmeal until the mix has the same consistency as it did before adding the pie filling
  • The Disappearing Oatmeal Cookie recipe calls for 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes, but with pumpkin in them the cookies take longer, 20 to 25 minutes.
  • If all of that didn’t scare you away, read the full recipe below!

Rice Krispy Treats

Rice Krispies Pumpkin Treats!

Rice Krispies Pumpkin Treats!

If you “make your own” these are unlimited in variations, mold them into monsters, ghosts, balls, poke sticks in them and you have awesome treats for the Pinhead Pumpkin (see video above)

You can mold these into shapes, balls, or just press flat. You can add green, orange or red dye and make it colored.

If you simply buy the treats already made they are in a flat block, you can use a serrated knife to cut ghost or triangle shapes, and poke sticks in them to make more interesting treats.

You can make the ghost shapes more convincing with a bit of white frosting and two small candies for eyes. You can use Yellow, White and Orange frosting to make giant candy corn!

    This is the original “Rice Krispy” treat recipe.

    * 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
    * 1 package (10 oz., about 40) regular marshmallows
    * - OR -
    * 4 cups miniature marshmallows
    * 6 cups Rice Krispies®

    1. In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.
    2. Add KELLOGG’S RICE KRISPIES cereal. Stir until well coated.

    3. Using buttered spatula or wax paper evenly press mixture into 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan coated with cooking spray. Cool. Cut into 2-inch squares. Best if served the same day.

    MICROWAVE DIRECTIONS:
    In microwave-safe bowl heat butter and marshmallows on HIGH for 3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes. Stir until smooth. Follow steps 2 and 3 above. Microwave cooking times may vary.

    Note

    For best results, use fresh marshmallows.
    1 jar (7 oz.) marshmallow crème can be substituted for marshmallows.
    Diet, reduced calorie or tub margarine is not recommended.
    Store no more than two days at room temperature in airtight container. To freeze, place in layers separated by wax paper in airtight container. Freeze for up to 6 weeks. Let stand at room temperature for 15 minutes before serving.
